Corran Ferry - Infrastructure Improvement Scheme

Pre-application Consultation

The Highland Council is proposing an upgrade to the Corran Ferry Service that will involve the replacement of the existing ferry with two electric vessels. The Infrastructure Improvement Scheme involves the design and development of faciliative infrastructure to support the new ferries, including a new slipway at ardgour and Nether Lochaber, marshalling areas and public facilities. The proposed development will also include the construction of a new berthing pier and new accommodation building(s) at ardgour.

Pre-application consultation is underway for public response and input to the infrastructure design.

Fixed Link Note: The Infrastructure Improvement Scheme seeks to ensure the essential replacement vessels and infrastructure upgrade can be delivered to prevent service failure, until a fixed link solution can be delivered (e.g. a bridge) A fixed link crossing is a separate, complementary piece of work that remains a long-term aspiration.

Responses relating to a fixed link option can be directed to corranferryproject@highland.gov.uk

Consultation Update: The initial consultation period for the Corran Ferry Infrastructure Improvement Scheme will close on 22nd December 2022. Information and materials from the exhibitions, including access to a feedback survey are available at affriclimited.co.uk/consultations.

Updates on the project including details of future consultation will be shared on the Project’s consultation website: affriclimited.co.uk/consultations and the Corran Ferry website: https://www.highland.gov.uk/corranferry.
